The Building Together: A Place to Call Home campaign is an effort to respond in faith to the many needs around Metropolitan Community Church of Greater Saint Louis. Our hope and desire is to have a building conducive to providing the ministries needed in our community, so that we may more effectively “accept, embody, and declare God’s love for all.”
Why is the Building Together needed?
MCC of Greater Saint Louis needs $2.8 million to renovate our facility at 1919 S. Broadway and pay down loan balances.
What are the goals of Building Together?
Our goals are:100% of the congregants of MCC of Greater Saint Louis will participate in the Building Together: A Place to Call Home campaign.At least $1 million raised to move this project forward.
What is the history of Building Together? June 20, 2008 - An office/warehouse facility at 1919 S. Broadway was purchased for $1.3 million.September 2008 – A grand breaking ceremony was held at 1919 S. Broadway. November 2, 2008 - The Building Together: A Place to Call Home campaign was launched, resulting in $1.46 million pledged over 3 years. November 17, 2008 - The church office of MCCGSL moved to 1919 S. Broadway.December 2008 - Renovation began on the building.April 2009 - A commercial loan through Illinois Facility Fund (IFF) was secured for $450,000 to pay for renovation of the office and lobby.April 2009 - A commercial loan through Pulaski Bank was secured for $1.95 million: $1 million for the purchase of the building & $950,000 for renovation.June 21, 2009 – A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the first worship service at 1919 S. Broadway.August 29, 2009 – A dedication of the sanctuary was led by Rev. Elder Lillie Brock.September 26, 2009 – A grand opening ceremony and community concert featuring Band Together, CHARIS, Gateway Men’s Chorus, and MCCGSL choir was held. Metropolitan Community Church Moderator, Rev. Elder Nancy Wilson offered the welcome and prayer of blessing.
What is the current status of Building Together? Phases 1 & 2 (offices and sanctuary) of the renovation are completed. Pledges totaling $980,000 have been received.Other donations for Building Together totaling $17,000 have been received. Fundraisers benefitting Building Together have raised over $60,000.The historical cost value of our facility at 1919 S. Broadway is $3.3 million.MCCGSL has paid over $279,000 for principal reduction. MCCGSL has paid over $249,000 for mortgage interest.
