Join Fr. Jerry Kleeba on the Black History Bus Tour. The tour will meet at St. Cronan church at 9:45am. Fr. Gerry Kleba has served as a St. Louis diocesan priest for 55 years. During this time, he has been a hospital chaplain, a university professor, a retreat master, but mostly a parish priest in a variety of parishes from rural to sprawling suburban, but predominantly in economically depressed, largely black, communities. He has written four books, the one about inner-city ministry is THE PEOPLE PARISH, A MODEL OF CHURCH WHERE PEOPLE FLOURISH. There will be an optional brown bag lunch and discussion following, for those interested. The cost for the tour is $10, paid at the time of the tour.
Additional Instructions:
1. Please arrive at the parking lot across the street from St. Cronan Parish Church at 9:30 am. (1202 S. Boyle Ave. 63110) The pre-tour gathering and brief primer will be on the sidewalk next to the parking lot beginning at 9:45 am. We will then board the bus. The tour will be from 10 am to 1 pm.
2. Bring:
· your own beverages (water bottles) for the bus tour.
· $10.00 cash for the bus/driver cost (we won’t have change)
· your lunch if you are staying after the tour for the discussion
3. Optional Lunch:
· After the tour ends at 1 pm, for those who are interested there will be a brown bag lunch (bring your own food/drink) and discussion with Fr. Kleba. It is an opportunity to ask questions and share our thoughts and reflections on the tour. The lunch will be held in the café room of the Mid-Town Services building that is adjacent to the parking lot. The lunch will run from approximately 1:15
to 2:30 pm. · If you bring a lunch, you can keep it in your car while we are on the tour.
4. Miscellaneous
The bus will make one stop at a gas station during which you may deboard the bus for a break, visit bathrooms, and buy snacks.
